Police Arrested Man who Assaults Minnesota Congresswoman in DC Apartment

On 9th February 2023, police arrested a man who allegedly assaulted Rep. Angie Craig. The man reportedly attacked her in the elevator of her residential building in Washington, DC. 

The arrested man is identified as Kendrick Hamlin, a 26-year-old youth with no certain address. According to DC Metropolitan Police Department, the accused has been charged with simple assault. 

The incident occurred at nearly 7:10 am when according to the reports, the victim was at her elevator. The accused stalked the victim, punched and grabbed her neck. The victim tried to defend herself by tossing hot coffee at him. However, the suspect managed to escape the scene after attacking. 

Nick Coe, the Minnesota congresswoman’s chief of staff, referred to the incident and stated that Rep. Craig received bruises on her body while trying to defend herself from the attacker. Other than that, she is physically doing well. Nick Coe also mentioned that no evidence could connect the incident with any political motive. 

Further, Rep. Craig asked for privacy to heal herself from the incident. Reportedly, Vice President Kamala Harris also spoke to Craig about the incident and her health.
