Netflix to Stop Password Sharing From April 2023

The OTT giant Netflix is ending password sharing for users. Netflix announced it would launch the paid-sharing feature within the first 3 months of 2023. Reportedly, it is expected to start in April 2023.

Popular OTT app Netflix has announced the implementation of password sharing for users. This means from April 2023; users can no longer share their Netflix account password with anyone outside the household. The sharing of passwords which has been free for several days will now be paid instead. If a user wants to share the password for their account with their family or friends, they will have to pay an additional fee to Netflix.  According to the company, it changed the terms to elevate the revenue and bring more subscribers. The company said, “Later in Q1, we expect to start rolling out paid sharing more broadly. Today’s widespread account sharing (100M+ households) undermines our long-term ability to invest in and improve Netflix and build our business.”
