Husband of Kellie Pickler, Kyle Jacobs, Found Dead in Nashville Home

Kellie Pickler’s ex-husband Kyle Jacobs, a well-known country music composer, passed away at the age of 49 after what appeared to be a suicide. On Friday, after receiving a 911 call from the couple, the Metropolitan Nashville Police arrived and discovered Jacobs dead in an upstairs bedroom from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Jacobs, who was born and bred in Minnesota, co-wrote several well-known country songs, including “More Than A Memory” by Garth Brooks, “Still” by Tim McGraw, and “Dust” by the Eli Young Band. Numerous well-known performers, including George Strait, Kelly Clarkson, Thompson Square, and Jo Dee Messina, have recorded his tunes.

Through common songwriting acquaintances, Jacobs and Pickler first connected in 2007 at a bar in Nashville and started working together immediately. The pair co-wrote numerous tracks on Pickler’s albums “100 Proof” in 2012 and “The Woman I Am” in 2013. On January 1, 2011, the two secretly wed in Antigua, and from 2015 to 2017, CMT broadcast their reality series “I Love Kellie Pickler” for three seasons.

Pickler and Derek Hough won “Dancing with the Stars” Season 16 in 2013 while performing the song “Say I Do,” which was written and sung by Jacobs. Pickler, who experienced a difficult upbringing, said in 2006 that her mother instructed her to kill herself by giving her a kitchen knife. Many people in the country music community were saddened by Jacobs’ passing, including the Academy of Country Music Awards, which tweeted their thoughts and love to the family. In addition, CMT, the couple’s network, tweeted their good wishes for Pickler and the Jacobs family.
