Ex Lt Gen of Pakistan pardoned by the new military leadership and released from prison convicted. He was arrested for bridging national security and leaking “classified information” to foreign spies.
Former Lt Gen Javed Iqbal was left on December 29, 2022, from Rawalpindi’s AdialaJail, before the new military leadership. It revised the case where he was accused of leaking crucial information to foreign spies. Right after taking charge, his lawyer Omer Farouk Adam highlighted that the former judge had served injustice on his plate.
On May 30, Javed Iqbal was sentenced to imprisonment for 14 years by Field General Court Martial (FGCM) for leaking information to foreign agencies prejudicial to national security. He came out of Jail after serving four years in prison.
Iqbal allegedly disclosed his career profile; SPD deals with fissile material that elaborates the screening process for the army chief. He was also accused of sharing details related to the army channels used by the government, elaborating on the National Security Committee’s composition, and many more.
