On Saturday, 09:07 am, an earthquake of magnitude 4.3 happened in Afghanistan. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the abyss of the quale was 186 km below the ground.
According to the records, there were no casualties. The Paktika area of Afghanistan is prone to earthquakes, due to which the people of the site are already facing several difficulties. Due to the increasing cold in Afghanistan, people are compelled to live in caves.
In the past, the Paktia area faced another earthquake where many people were killed. Moreover, after the quake, enduring the cold became quite tricky. Due to this, families are currently facing some problems in their daily lives.
As per the official statistics, the earthquake that hit Paktika and Khosthave destroyed around 7,800 homes, of which 6,000 houses were in the Gayan district.
Reportedly, an earthquake of magnitude 4.0 also hit Manipur’s Ukhrul on Saturday at 6.14 am.
Afghanistan is more prone to earthquakes due to its location. It is situated at the meeting point of Arabian, Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. Besides, the border between the Eurasian and Indian plates also lies near the territory of Afghanistan.
The recent earthquake originated due to the vigorous crash between the Indian and Eurasian plates.
