The series of earthquakes in the world seemed to hike up drastically. According to the officials, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Turkey on Monday and took 53 people’s lives.
According to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake was of 7.8 magnitudes that struck at 04:17 local time (01:17 GMT) at an abyss of 17.9km around Gaziantep.
Osmaniye Governor Erdinç Yılmaz stated that due to the earthquake that occurred in the Pazarcık district of Kahramanmaraş, 34 buildings have collapsed. 5 people were killed, and several others were injured. The Turkish authorities are continuing with their rescue operations. The rescue teams and supply aircraft are scrambled in the rescue procedure.
Reportedly, Syria was also affected badly by the earthquake. Several buildings were destroyed. According to the Syrian health ministry, around 111 people lost their lives across Aleppo, Hama, and Latakia, and more than 500 people were severely injured.
Hospitals in Syria flooded with victims of the massive earthquake. The earthquake also affected Turkey and killed more than 1,200 people while they were sleeping.
According to the Syrian, at least 592 people died in the war-torn country. Besides, the health ministry stated that the number of people who lost their lives is more than 371 and 1,089 were sevearly injured in government-controlled areas.
As per the White Helmets rescue group, more than 200 people lost their lives and 419 injured in rebel-held areas. They also added that the numbers are most likely to be increased since innumerable families are still trapped.
The crowded hospitals in Syria and Turkey have innumerable patients lying on beds, wrapped in bandages and plaster. While some faced severe injuries, others received treatment for fractures and bruises.
After the deadly earthquake occurred in the early hours of Monday, medical professionals rushed to help injured people, that include children. However, others were handling plastic bags that contained dead bodies found under the rubble.
